日本「二刀流」大谷翔平（Shohei Ohtani）連續三場比賽開轟，洛杉磯天使隊（Los Angeles Angels）球迷已開始高喊「大谷！大谷！」嚇到對手即使滿壘也寧可保送。

橙縣紀事報（Orange County Register）4月6日報導，大谷翔平當晚出戰屋崙運動家隊（Oakland Atheletics）二局下半轟出449呎超大全壘打，球飛時速112.3哩。飛到全壘打牆後面假山瀑布，掉進水裡。

洛杉磯時報說，大谷翔平四局下半第二打席。當時6：4天使落後兩分，無人出局，二壘有人，可轟出兩分炮追平。當他走上打擊區，全場球迷首次高喊「大谷」。可惜他球棒打斷，揮出內野高飛球被接殺。

五局下半大谷翔平第三打席，當時8：6天使落後兩分，而且滿壘。這時球迷不但高喊「大谷」，還全體起立加油。運動家隊嚇到換投手，新投手奉命連續四壞球保送讓大谷翔平擠回一分，再加一個打點。

由於大谷翔平棒子發燙，天使總教練索夏（Mike Scioscia）在媒體追問下鬆口表示，將考慮把大谷翔平從第八棒提前，並可能讓他在主投前後一天照常擔任指定打擊。
